Students' Rights
Pre-Kinder, Kindergarten, Elementary and High School students have the right to:
- Be accepted without discrimination based on race, religion, color, gender, language or others.
- Be treated with dignity and respect for personal differences based on their individual development.
- Receive a comprehensive education in each grade, within an environment that provides physical and emotional security, as well as guidance and wellness services.
- Receive comprehensive support for their physical, intellectual and socio-emotional development.
- Receive a specialized education, in accordance with the Ministry of Education’s Study Plans and Programs.
- Receive complementary and compensatory services oriented to promoting his/her psychomotor and biological, intellectual and socio-emotional development.
- Students and parents have the right to be informed about their learning progress and the results of bi-monthly and yearly evaluations.
- Students may be exempted from the following classes:
- Physical education, with respect to practical lessons only, in case of a physical impediment or physician’s orders.
- Religious education, based on the parent or guardian’s statements upon enrollment.
- Receive individual or collective awards and incentives for their performance, attitudes, achievements and conduct.
- Be heard and taken into account in any academic or disciplinary proceedings that directly affect him/her, in accordance with the established procedures.
- Have space and time for recreation.
- Freely express their opinions within a framework of tolerance and respect.
- Participate and be represented in events organized in and out of school, without neglecting their academic work.
- Make timely, written requests for corrections to their evaluations in case of an error.
- Receive guidance from tutors, teachers and teaching assistants.
- Participate in their education by voting for and being selected as student representatives.
- Make written requests to postpone tests in case of illness (accompanied by the respective doctor’s orders).
